Mobydo, a trusted provider of risk and drilling expertise to Transocean.
Transocean has chosen Mobydo as vendor for Red Zone drill floor risk assessments. Mobydo, a developer of digital control of work solutions and a trusted provider of risk and drilling expertise, is pleased to announce a delivery of drilling related services to the Transocean rig fleet operating on NCS.
To operate drill floors in full compliance with authorities' recommendations (081 guideline for remote pipe handling) is still a few years ahead of us. This is mainly due to lack of practical and proven technology available in the industry. We thereby still completely dependent on the skilled and competent drilling crews to carry out drilling operations safe and efficient.
Having a process of frequent reviewing and risk assess the manual work in red zone is an important activity in reducing human exposure as far as practical possible. The Red Zone HAZID is a continuous improvement process and the arena for drilling crews to discuss and evaluate safer and better ways to operate. E.g., handling equipment, different handling procedures and new technology.
Bernt Kvam Randeberg, CEO states: “Our long-term collaboration with Transocean keeps us up-to-date and closer to real operational challenges in the drilling domain. As a dependable solution provider and supplier of digital applications for safety clearance of work, this is an important arena for sharing knowledge and maintaining a pivotal insight into the offshore safety culture and work practices"
COSL expects to reduce offshore Admin hours up to 2000 per rig a year with Mobydo Smart Permit solution.
Mobydo - A Norwegian based developer and provider of a 100% digital solution for safety clearance of work has successfully implemented their Smart Permit solution on COSL Prospector. This is the 4th successful implementation on COSL rigs - which means that COSL is 100% digital and compliant within the Control of Work area.
Torfinn Kalstø (ICT Manager), COSL Drilling says: “Mobydo Smart Permit solution was installed on our Prospector rig early May. The installation time took only a few working days to be fully operational on the rig. As the solution is built on industry common guideline 088, the need for training of crews was being minimized significantly. This is a highly intuitive solution making it very easy for us to use and operate. After only 4 days in operation more than 70 simultaneous Permit to work jobs were coordinated daily.
COSL really depends on agile, flexible, easy to use and scalable solutions and providers. It is impressive to see that a local expert solution vendor has been capable of developing a streamlined solution well fit for the industry, and bringing us in compliance. COSL expects to reduce offshore Admin hours up to 2000 per rig a year with this Smart Permit solution”.
Bernt Randeberg, founder and CEO of Mobydo Smart Permit solution, says that “this fulfills the vision I had while working offshore a few years back and realized that most of the control of work systems in use were too complex, paper-based and non-compliant. Our vision is to digitize our common safety culture from decades of North Sea operations into a solution that simplify the process for users and can be standardized and used globally across industries - cudos to COSL for really having understood the need and see the immense effect”
